NORTH DAKOTA GOOSE HUNTS

The Devils Lake area is blessed with strong numbers of resident Giant Canada’s, migrating Canada’s, and is home to one of the largest fall staging areas in the country for snow and blue geese. Our team of guides are well equipped and motivated to show your group a great guided goose hunting experience.

North Dakota Duck Hunts Offer

Guided North Dakota Snow Goose Hunting

We take hunting this bird seriously by deploying only the very best in modern decoys. We trailer dozens of full body decoys and use hundreds of Silo Sock, Deadly Decoys, and rag decoys as our main spreads. We field hunt snows in harvested wheat, barley, and corn. We hide our hunters by using natural down wind cover, laydown blinds, or by wearing white ponchos in the spread.  Generally we deploy large spreads to fool this very smart bird.

Guided North Dakota Canada Goose Hunting

The Devils Lake region produces large numbers of giant Canada geese each season and is visited by flocks of migratory Canada’s. The bulk of our Canada goose hunting is for giants, but we host thousands of migrating lesser Tall Grass Prairie Canada geese and Western Prairie Canada geese subspecies. We hunt in the fields with full body decoys and silhouettes. Like snow geese, we field hunt Canada’s in harvested wheat, barley, and corn. We hide our hunters by using panel blinds, A-frame blinds, natural down wind cover, or laydown blinds.

Guided North Dakota Goose Hunting Info

In North Dakota the daily season closes at 1:00 PM for all geese.  Hunts are similar to our guided duck hunts where your guide spends the afternoons scouting geese and securing the best goose feed field for the next morning’s shoot.  A typical day is up early, deploy the spread, get in good hunting positions, load the guns ½ hour before sunrise, have a good hunt, and be out of the field by 1:00.

Best North Dakota Goose Hunting Dates

Some snow geese arrive by opener, but the best dates are from mid to later October to the 15th of November.  Giant Canada geese are born here and we have excellent numbers early.  Migrating smaller Tall Grass Prairie Geese generally migrate into our area by early October with the midsize Western Prairie Canada geese arriving by mid October.
